Zinc Selenide has a broad transmission range from visible to long wave infrared range 0.5-20 μm. ZnSe lenses are popularly used in high power lasers and thermal imaging systems. The AR coating can be at 10.6 μm and other ranges.
Germanium window usually is one side coated with high efficiency broadband anti-reflection coating and diamond like carbon DLC coating on the outer surface. DLC coated germanium window is quite often used to protect the infrared lenses from a harsh environment.
